So I’m looking to change my career. For the past two years I have been working in Telecoms/IT related roles and have very little to do in the creative field (well except for a few carefully worded persuasive emails directed at BT). Yet I have this urge to move into a more creative role. From previous experience and through discussion with others already in this profession I am moving towards a career in marketing.
My only issue is, where do I start?
Well I can look at starting my CIM qualifications; that’d be a step in the right direction. But from every job listing I am looking at, I have neither the required qualifications or the desired experience. I could start a blog, but I worry that the low readership in this endeavour would hinder my success, though I may as well give it a try. I may be over thinking this point.
When I was first looking for a job, I decided to chronicle my endeavours in the original format of this blog however, soon after landing my first job I lost the muster to write. Not because I had lost my love for writing but because I was excited to be in my first job, to be earning my own money and to be meeting a whole range of different people. In the past I had only met other like minded students whose concerns and interests mirrored my own, but now I had a whole new host of people to engage with.
Now though, two years on from landing that first job, I’ve been with another three companies performing almost the exact same function and feel as though I have not achieved a thing. I’ve lost the outlet for my creative mind and not found a new passion for the inner workings of Microsoft.
So now I am embarking on a new journey and hoping this one leads me down a better and more fulfilling path.
